Surgical Oncology is a key translational and clinical area of expertise within the Liverpool Centre. A number of senior academic surgeons in Liverpool are leaders in their particular surgical specialty, and one of the central aims of the Centre is to facilitate the interaction between surgeons and cancer scientists performing basic and translational research. In this environment, surgeons are able to play a fundamental role in generating and obtaining clinical data and biological samples from patients, and direct research into important clinical problems. |

Many patients and public members work with researcher professionals and clinicians (e.g. doctors, nurses) and get actively involved in the different stages of research and associated activities. Active involvement in clinical research is very different from being a participant in a study Find out more..
