21st October - Bioinformatics Workshop
The Centre held a Bioinformatics workshop today highlighting the excellent statistics and bioinformatics support available to all members of the Centre. The workshop was well-attended and colleagues heard from Jithesh, Bryony Lloyd, Brian Lane and Trevor Cox on Sequence Analysis, Systems Biology, Cross PlatformTechnologies for Biomarkers, Microarray Analysis, and Statistical Aspects of Bioinformatics.

These core statistician facilities are available to all staff in the Centre.

The last few years have seen a huge rise in the range of fields that require computational analysis or bioinformatics. In order to manage and process large datasets, the University has recruited a team of statisticians and bioinformaticians with complementary skills. The Centre's seminars are held every Friday at 1pm in the Cancer Research UK Centre Lecture Theatre. All welcome to attend. The University of Liverpool offers one of the best Ph.D. programmes in the U.K., and has been ranked 4th in a study of completion rates for Ph.D. students at universities by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).
