Performing open and endoscopic surgery for babies with birth defects and children with cancer, I research the developmental origins of their diseases with a view to earlier diagnosis and more effective, less invasive therapy. Research Interests My research on the developmental origins of childhood disease focusses on two areas: (1) prenatal lung development (to assist the many babies with underdeveloped lungs due to prematurity and / or birth defects); (2) development of neuroblastoma (to see if these lethal cancers can be tricked back into more normal neural development). |

Many patients and public members work with researcher professionals and clinicians (e.g. doctors, nurses) and get actively involved in the different stages of research and associated activities. Active involvement in clinical research is very different from being a participant in a study Find out more..
